In 2018, ZASLON JSC established the Medical Systems and Technology Department engaged in developing unique domestic medical equipment.

Brief information about the area

The first project of the Department was the development of the first domestic ultrasound scanner SmartScan. The Department employs unique developers from Moscow, St. Petersburg, Rostov-on-Don, who have been of great importance in ultrasound equipment development in Russia for the past 20 years. The work first resulted in the unique ultrasound system SmartScan, with the touch screen and the simplified user interface in Russian, which received in 2021, the Registration Certificate of the Federal Service for Supervision in Healthcare of the Russian Federation.

OBJECTIVES OF THE MEDICAL SYSTEMS AND TECHNOLOGY DEPARTMENT:

  • establishing production facilities, furnishing with high-performance equipment and up to date technological processes for manufacturing a wide range of ultrasound medical diagnostic equipment
  • manufacturing various custom versions of the portable multifunctional ultrasound medical scanner with interactive telecommunication interface, for domestic healthcare, military medicine and disaster medicine
  • manufacturing a wide range of ultrasonic multi-frequency sensors of medium and high density for ultrasonic echography
  • import substitution of ultrasonic medical equipment for furnishing medical and preventive outpatient and inpatient facilities, ambulance and air ambulance services with innovative domestic medical diagnostic equipment
  • import substitution of ultrasonic medical equipment for furnishing field hospitals and other military medical institutions, as well as medical support services of civil defense and emergency situations with innovative domestic medical diagnostic equipment

Currently, the Medical Systems and Technology team is fruitfully engaged in research and development work (R&D), as part of initiative projects for designing high-tech medical devices:

  • Extension of the SmartScan ultrasound scanner line
  • Development of the SmartDop ultrasound Doppler line for the needs of vascular neurology and vascular surgery
  • Design and development of the SmartCom telecommunication system on the base of the SmartScan technology platform
  • Development of wireless monitoring systems based on the SmartScan platform for the needs of emergency medical care, ICU departments, mobile outpatient facilities, and first aid stations (FAS)
  • Design of wireless home monitor and diagnostic complexes (HDCs) equipped with the SmartCom telecommunication system
  • Design and production of ultrasound sensors for ultrasound sonography and Doppler ultrasonography
  • Design of the mobile (portable) system for ultrasound lithotripsy with ultrasound navigation
  • Development of the concept and line of equipment, PPS (primary processing system) and consumables for palliative therapy, remote infusion therapy in oncology, and parenteral nutrition
  • Design of equipment for hybrid methods of medical introscopy of internal organs using photonic, radiofrequency and ultrasound scanning methods
  • Development of diagnostic equipment operating on the principles of backscattered X-ray radiation

Solutions

SMARTSCAN ULTRASONIC SCANNER

The SmartScan-15 domestic portable ultrasound scanner with the interactive user interface, the 15.6” touch screen, voice control, the capability of autonomously operating in diagnostic mode for at least 180 minutes, with pre-installed protocols of urgent sonography FAST, BLUE and RUSH.

Interactive protocols ensure the easiness of researching; the simple and user-friendly interface will guide the doctor step by step through the entire examination procedure and help create a diagnostic conclusion.

The light weight and portable design in the transformer form factor allows the SmartScan to be used in an emergency department, a hospital ward, an intensive care unit, in an operating room, in an ambulance or helicopter of civil and military air ambulance.

Rapid diagnosis of internal organ damage and the risk of fatal complications in course of provision of emergency medical care is provided by the FAST, RUSH and BLUE protocol software modules.

The SmartScan ultrasound scanner is equipped with the SmartCom system to be designed to transmit diagnostic information of the SmartScan ultrasound scanner from an ambulance to a telecommunication monitor located in the reference center, ensuring real-time audio-video communication in the video conference format with the simultaneous transmission of diagnostic images from emergency physicians to consultants of the reference center, for the purpose of obtaining a second competent medical opinion and the necessary consulting assistance in complex diagnostic cases at all stages of medical care.
